Au Ver à Soie Soie d’Alger® (pronounced “swa-dal-jay”) is a 7-strand spun silk with a moderate lustre, smooth and soft.
It is made of the best quality spun silk (called strusas) which gives it an unrivalled regularity, lustrousness and softness. The thread does not snarl in the needle and has a good tensile strength. Perfect for cross stitch, counted thread work, needlepoint, embroidery, hardanger, lace making, blackwork, ribbon embroidery, stumpwork ...
Soie d'Alger is available in no less than 670 colours in 5 m skeins or 45 m hanks (take heart - in 1890 there were 2688 colours!!)
