Thread Bear For Sale

Some of you may be surprised by the ad on our Home Page, but we've been thinking about selling Thread Bear for a good year now, due to long-term personal and family concerns. 

We're looking for an enthusiastic lover of quilting, needlework etc to buy our lovely shop and would welcome all serious enquiries. 

Thread Bear is over 10 years old, having started from very small beginnings as a tiny needlework shop a couple of miles away, selling cross stitch, tapestry and some haberdashery.  The business expanded to the current site several years ago, and when we (Stephanie and Kate) bought the existing shop in April 2005, we again expanded, adding quilting and knitting to the needlework - as well as lots more haberdashery and general craft.  The huge growth we experienced over our first two years couldn't be contained in the existing premises, and two summers ago we had our large extension built, doubling the shop floor space as well as adding utility rooms.

Our business is thriving, the shop iteself being extremely busy with shoppers and classes - and the introduction of our web catalogue over the past 3-4 years has taken our customer base from the mostly very local to UK-wide and international, with people ordering regularly from all over the world.  We have acquired an excellent reputation over the last few years, receiving compliment after compliment in person from our shop customers and by email from our web customers - who regularly bring us new customers by word of mouth recommendation.  Our turnover has increased fourfold in the past 3 years, so if you're interested you'll need lots and lots of energy and enthusiasm - and one or more friends to be your partner(s) and/or staff!  Do get in touch with us if you think you might be the one!
