The cone is the oldest kind of Christmas Tree decoration and, of course, its use is particularly conntected with the idea of decorating the tree with something edible. It is probably a luxury variation of the grocer's way of wrapping candy. The first cones were made from paper, but today the are made from all kinds of materials. A bobbin lace cone symbolises real luxury. It is a spider's web with a handle - where light is reflected off the gold, silver and beads making them sparkle.
